Kevin Carroll

Mr. Carroll is a saxophonist and a graduate of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He completed his master’s in instrumental music education from VanderCook College of Music in Chicago. Mr. Carroll began his teaching career at Joliet West during the spring semester of 1993. During Mr. Carroll’s tenure at Joliet West he has been awarded the Chicagoland Music Educator of the Year Award in 2002 and has been selected a "Who’s Who Among American Teachers" numerous times.

Under Mr. Carroll’s direction, the Joliet West Band program has earned many awards in Illinois and throughout the country. Some of the most prestigious awards include acceptance into the Illinois Superstate Concert Band Competition 2003, 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2010 and Grand Champion of Illinois State University’s Concert Band Invitational and New York Performing Arts Center Competition for 2006. The West Band program has grown from approximately 70 students and 1.5 bands to about 200 students, comprising three full concert bands, two jazz bands, percussion ensemble, Marching Tigers, and the Black & Gold Pep Bands for the 2012-13 school year.
