The 2016 annual meeting was called to order by Pres Gene D. at 3:05 pm in the JT West Media Center.

A review of 2015 meeting minutes were completed and motion made to approve by Doug K. And 2nd by Melissa P.

A review of the Financial statement was completed and motion to approve by Melissa P. and  2nd by Scott D.

At this time , Pres. Gene thanked all alumni for any donations received for the Alumni Band and Scholarship funds.  A donation was received from alumni , Mark Taylor.

Year in Review: 

The BAA has , thus far , awarded $16,000 in scholarship monies.  There has been $10,000 for Centennial participants and $6,000 for NMS.

Both scholarships currently have funds for another year.

We have expanded our Social Media for more FB exposure and  increased email.  The website was started in 2009 and we have been able to receive sign-up for memberships.  Database still needs improvement and ways to explore more options to increase membership.  Solution still not found for on line payments.

Fundraiser:

50/50 raffles assist with incidental costs.  This year the group should look into raffles being done at the basketball games.  Mary Beth will speak to Athletic Directors at that time.

Committees:

Emphasis will be focused on an Alumni Band Concert and forming a committee.  Mike F. will attempt to create teams to represent various decades and research members to boost membership.  Mary C. to assist with database.

Scholarships continue to be main focus of organization at this time.

Upcoming events for year 2017 include our scholarship process.  Letters will be sent out in January to Senior band students as well as visits to each school.  March will begin interviews and auditions.  Date to be determined.

Annual Pizza Party and Pep Band will be determined for Fall/Winter season.  Dates will be reviewed with each band director at respective schools.

Future of JTHSBAA as a performing group vs scholarship based group:

Bob G. recommended a performance at BiCentennial Park with an alternative site if weather is a problem.  If instrumentation is a major issue,high school band members could be asked to perform.  Also , recommendations to streamline rehearsals.

Don S. recommended the Band Alumni have literature to provide the high schoolers or promote a " then and now" highlight of Alumni on Website.

Bob G. recommends sending out email reminding members  to pay dues.

Suggestions were made to sustain funds for scholarships to local businesses, alumni, and  especially music businesses.  Perhaps provide a plaque with Donor's name to place in their establishment for their donation.   Formal letters need to be formed and distributed to businesses for solicitation of monies.

Our next  JTHS BAA monthly meeting will be Oct. 19th at 7:30 pm at JTW library.

The Annual Meeting was adjourned at 4:32 pm.  The Board thanks all that attended today's meeting .
